Meet the beautiful new face of the Kardashian Kurve fashion campaign, Natural Model Management model Briana Harrington. Kardashian Kurve is the latest addition to the Kardashian sister's fashion brand "Kardashian Kollection" available exclusively at Sears. This past summer, the Kardashian trio announced a contest to find a curvy girl to model their denim line, and after thousands of entries Briana won. I first discovered Ms. Harrington (who has also modeled for Torrid) earlier this year when she was featured in Seventeen Magazine as a finalist for Tyra Banks's Fiercely Real model search. Although she wasn't the winner, it was her words that spoke loudest to me: "Look in the mirror everyday and tell yourself. 'I am beautiful-not just on the inside, but the outside as well." Her words and gorgeous photo-sets have inspired me to get back in shape and model for my own upcoming clothing brand. I'm sure she'll inspire you too, learn more about her in our interview below.
Lola W: Congratulations on the Kardashian Kurve Campaign, how did you feel when you heard the news?
Briana: At first, I was in shock. I couldn't believe that I had won. I think it will sink in once I'm at the shoot.
When did you realize you wanted to become a model?
It began at a young age. I remember being 9 years old saying I wanted to model, but I never thought I could do it because it was "too big". I was obsessed with America's Next Top Model (still am) that inspired me to gain knowledge about modeling and the industry in general.
Have you faced any challenges on your road to success so far? How did you overcome it?
I have struggle with my body/weight for a while so coming to accept and love my body was difficult. I have had rejections because I was a little bigger, but that has made me a stronger person. Being healthy is the most important thing for me. Once I realized that I could do this. I let all of those insecurities and negative comments go away.
I consider Tyra Banks to be an Alpha in the modeling/business world, and as a woman in general. What was it like to meet her? Did she give you any advice?
Meeting my role model was a big deal. From seeing her on television to doing a photoshoot was a surreal moment for me. She is the most humble and down to earth person. I asked her for advice and she was more than willing to help. She gave me advice on posing and being confident in front of the camera.
Who is someone that inspires you?
My inspiration is my mother. She's most hardworking and selfless person I know. She's given me everything and has been my #1 fan. She makes me feel beautiful. I can't imagine life without her. She's such a strong woman, and has always instilled the importance of getting an education. I love her to death!
When you're not striking beautiful poses, what do you enjoy doing?
I love having a good time. When I'm not at school or work, I'm usually hanging with my bestfriends. We love going to concerts, clubs, or the mall. I love to dance, so whenever I have the chance to go dancing I'm there!
What is your ULTIMATE dream/goal?
My dream goal is to start my own non-profit organization, modeling agency, and clothing line. I would love to be able to inspire women all over the world. It has always been a goal of mine to come out with my own plus clothing line, so we shall see!
Do you have any advice for aspiring young women?
My advice is be yourself. Once you're able to accept and love yourself people will be able to as well. Never let anyone tell you, you can't make it or you'll never reach your goal. You determine your future. With hard work and diligence, you can achieve anything.
What does "A True Alpha" mean to you?
A True Alpha is someone who is confidence in their skin. Their not afraid to take risks and work with what they've got.
